　　In the north of China, there lies a 6,700-kilometer-long (4,161-mile-long) ancient wall. Now well-known as the Great Wall of China, it starts at the Jiayuguan Pass of Gansu Province in the west and ends at the Shanhaiguan Pass of Hebei Province in the east. As one of the Eight Wonders in the world, the Great Wall of China has become the symbol of the Chinese nation and its culture.

　　Lots of beautiful legends and stories about the Great Wall took place following along the construction, and since that time these stories have spread around the country. Those that happened during construction are abundant, such as Meng

　　Jiangnu's story and the legend of the Jiayuguan Pass. Meng Jiangnu's story is the most famous and widely spread of all the legends about the Great Wall. The story happened during the Qin Dynasty (221BC-206BC). It tells of how Meng Jiangnu's bitter weeping made a section of the Great Wall collapse. Meng Jiangnu's husband Fan Qiliang was caught by federal officials and sent to build the Great Wall. Meng Jiangnu heard nothing from him after his departure, so she set out to look for him. Unfortunately, by the time she reached the great wall, she discovered that her husband had already died. Hearing the bad news, she cried her heart out. Her howl caused the collapse of a part of the Great Wall. This story indicates that the Great Wall is the production of tens of thousands of Chinese commoners.

　　Another legend about the Jiayuguan Pass tells of a workman named Yi Kaizhan in the Ming Dynasty (1368BC-1644BC) who was proficient in arithmetic. He calculated that it would need 99,999 bricks to build the Jiayuguan Pass. The supervisor did not believe him and said if they miscalculated by even one brick, then all the workmen would be punished to do hard work for three years. After the completion of the project, one brick was left behind the Xiwong city gate. The supervisor was happy at the sight brick and ready to punish them. However Yi Kaizhan said with deliberation that the brick was put there by a supernatural being to fix the wall. A tiny move would cause the collapse of the wall. Therefore the brick was kept there and never moved. It can still be found there today on the tower of the Jiayuguan Pass. In addition to the above-mentioned stories about the construction of the Great Wall, there are also plenty of stories about current scenic spots. A famous one is the legend of the Beacon Tower. This story happened during the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century BC-711 BC). King You had a queen named Bao Si, who was very pretty. King You liked her very much, however Bao Si never smiled. An official gave a suggestion that setting the beacon tower on fire would frighten the King's subjects, and might make the queen smile. King You liked the idea. The subjects were fooled and Bao Si smiled at the sight of the chaos. Later enemies invaded Western Zhou, King You set the beacon tower on fire to ask for help. No subjects came to help because they had been fooled once before. Thus, King Zhou was killed by the enemy and Western Zhou came to an end.

　　Beautiful stories and legends about the Great Wall help to keep alive Chinese history and culture. In each dynasty after the building of the Great Wall, many more stories were created and spread.

　　We live in an era of accelerating change where often as a society and as individuals we seem to be struggling to keep up.

　　Graduation is all about change. And at Michigan that means it’s not only about the change in you, it’s about the changes you will contribute to in society.

　　In the fall of 20xx, when many of you started as undergraduates here at Michigan, our world was a different place.

　　Me Too was not yet a hashtag. The event horizon of a black hole had never been imaged. And midterm voter turnout on university campuses across the country was just 19 percent.

　　Each of these examples, in their own way, demonstrates the often long and difficult path to change.

　　The Me Too Movement was founded in 20xx by activist and sexual assault survivor Tarana Burke. Burke wanted to provide a place for survivors to tell their stories, for empathy, and for healing.

　　She spent more than a decade persevering and advocating on the behalf of those whose stories are marginalized, or not told at all. Then the idea she started went viral, transforming into global conversation and, we must hope, change.

Started in an office par, eventually, got the buildings, we are in now the corner of the ends of 280.and those buildings hold maybe 2600 or 2800 people. But we've got almost 12,000 people in the area. So we're renting buildings - not very good buildings, either at an ever-greater radius from our campus and we're putting people in those. It is clear that we need to build new campus, so we just add space.

And he did, but in addition to that he gave me something way more important.

And the campus we like to build there is one building holds 12,000 people. And it is pretty amazing building. Let me show it to you. It's a little like a spaceship landed, there it is, and it's got this gorgeous courtyard in the middle, but a lot more. So let's take a close look at it. It's a circle.

　　It's curved all the way around. If you build things, this is not the cheapest way to build something. There is not a straight piece of glass in this building. It's all curved. We've used our experience making retail buildings all over the world now, and we know how to make the biggest pieces of glass in the world for architectural use. We can make it curve all the way around the building. And you can see what it look like. It is pretty cool.

Again you can see what it might be like. This is some of the infrastructure. The main building, we have parking underneath the main building.

　　That's not enough unfortunately. We have a parking structure here as well. The building's four stories high as is the parking structure. There's nothing high here at all. We want the whole place human scale. It's actually about the same as we have in Cupertino right now.. An energy center. We deal with - people using, sitting at computers all day writing software. And if the power goes out on the grid we get to send everybody home. So we have to have backup power to power the place in the event brownouts and stuff. And I think what we're gonna end up doing is making the energy center our primary source of power. Because we can generate power with Natural Gas and other ways that can be cleaner and cheaper and use the grid as our backup.

　　We've got an auditorium because we put on presentations. Much like we did yesterday but we have to go to San Francisco to do them. Fitness center and some R&D facilities, these are just things that where we do testing and we need some buildings to test in and there's hardly any people in them. So this is roughly the kind of thing we're thinking about. We think about 12,000 people, I put 13,000 on the slides, just because we may make a little luckier than 12,000. We're up roughly 40% in people V.S. What the site has been used for already and we're increasing space to 3.1 million square feet. So 20% increase in space. The landscaping though increases by 350%, which is nice, trees by 60%. The surface parking goes down by 90%. And so I think the overall feeling of the place is gonna be zillion times better than it is now with all the asphalt. And the building footprint actually goes down by 30%. So, we wanna take the space and in many cases making it smaller. We're putting more of desirable things on the space and that's what we like to do. So just wanna give you a look at it. This is a cafe. We have cafe as our facilities. And this cafe will, you know, feed the better part of the 3,000 people sitting. That's what you need when you 12,000 people in the campus. So that's what we're looking at. I'd love to answer your questions if you have any.

　　学徒路易·威登在店里勤奋精进，谦卑热忱，因为做过木工，他做的皮箱更加结实;因为做过捆衣工，他做的皮箱在空间设计上更加科学合理。很快，路易·威登成为一位手艺超群的年轻师傅，他所推出的皮箱一直保持着良好突出的销量记录。最后，他在香榭丽舍大街开了一家皮箱店，为时尚品牌lv(路易威登)的问世开辟出了道路。

　　Whether there’s afterlife， the answer has never been the same。 The atheists deny after life， believing that our life is no more than from the cradle to the grave。 They may care about their illustrious names after death； they may feel attached to the affection of their offspring， but they never lay their hopes on their afterlife。 They may also say that good will be rewarded with good， and evil with evil， but they don’t really believe any retribution in their after life。

　　However， in the religious world or among the superstitious people， the belief in afterlife is very popular。 They do not only believe in afterlife， but thousands of reincarnations as well。 In the mysterious world， there are the paradise and the hell， the celestial beings and the gods， the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas。

　　Maybe they really believed it， or maybe they just wanted to make use of people’s veneration， the ancient emperors always declared that they were the real dragons， the sons of God， while the royal ministers claimed to be the reincarnations of various constellations。 But can the stars reincarnate？

　　Many people burn incense and kowtow， do good deeds and strive for virtues， not just for the present， but mainly to let God see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife， or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice。 They do believe in afterlife。 But I can’t help asking： Suppose there were no afterlife， would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues？ And If God does not see what you are doing， would you still be so upright and selfless？ If you work， not for serving the public and liberating the others， but just for a better afterlife of your own， isn’t it a little too selfish？ Comparing with this kind of believers， those who don’t believe in afterlife， but still keep doing good deeds， are the most sincere and honest philanthropists， because they do them not for themselves but for other。

　　You may wonder if I believe in afterlife。 My answer is： I know nothing about my previous life， so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife。 But I do hope there’s afterlife！ Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding。 I have so many dreams， so many wishes， so many ambitions， as well as so many regrets and concerns。 If there were no afterlife， all of them will remain unrealized！

We know this will take time, but we are deeply committed to working with members of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, to get it done and deliver more pro-family solutions to hardworking Americans.

　　Third, in this age of rapid technology, we must also confront the challenges of workforce development.

　　It is critical as we look toward the future, that we don’t allow women in the United States and around the world to be left behind by the 4th Industrial Revolution – a revolution that’s integrating robotics, computer programing, artificial intelligence, social media, and cutting-edge technologies into every aspect of our society.

　　As technology transforms every industry, we must work to ensure that women have access to the same education and industry opportunities as men.

　　Female and minority participation in STEM fields is moving in the wrong direction. Women today represent only 13 percent of engineers and 24 percent of Computer Science professionals, down from 35 percent in 1990. We must create equal participation in these traditionally male-dominated sectors of our economy, which are among the fastest-growing and most lucrative industries in the world. Over the coming decades, technologies such as automation and robotics will transform the way we work, and we want to make sure that women can lead in the economy of the future. Otherwise, not only will we fail in closing the persistent gender wage gap, we will risk reversing the hard-fought progress we have made in this fight.
